I grew up in Germany and
studied in England, Spain and France. In
the mid 70's when I moved to Florida and was looking for a place to live, my
then husband wanted to buy a home right away. We
could not qualify for a mortgage since I had no job and he had just started
one. Nevertheless
we kept looking and found a cute place for $16,000 and the owner was willing to
hold the mortgage
for us. I was fascinated by the process of looking for homes and working
towards homeownership and decided to obtain a Realtor
license. Realtek Real Estate in West Palm Beach was the company I
affiliate with. At that time we still had the bulky MLS books, which
showed the listings and information in print. Remember 1978 when interest rates
climbed from 9% to 11% and up to 16.5%. Not
much Real Estate changed hands at that time. I was glad when I was
offered full time employment in the mortgage industry where I remained till
2010 helping homeowners with all types of financing be it construction,
government or conventional loans. 2010
brought many changes and I decided I returned to Real Estate, a career which is
diverse and flexible and where there is always something new to learn. It
is very rewarding to see the smiles on buyer's faces when they receive the keys
to their new home after closing, or the seller thanking you after all the paperwork
is done and they have received their money from the sale of the property. That
is great and I love to be part of it.
